Passionate needlewoman, accomplished artist, committed teacher and determined entrepreneur, her enthusiasm for life led her to challenge herself and others to learn, create and change.

Although her style belongs to the 20th Century and the majority of her work is in a historic niche of church embroidery, her story has much to offer textile artists, designers and embroiderers today. The creative power of her design and the skill and innovation of her stitchery continue to excite and inspire.

The Beryl Dean Education Trust, set up following her death, is developing this website to commemorate Beryl’s work, to support teachers of embroidery and to encourage new generations of students to make with fabric, needle and thread
